Future Health launches CD45 testing
Future Health strive to provide the best possible service to our clients, and so the cord blood processing results we give to our parents are the total number of viable nucleated cells (CD45+) and the number of these cells that are stem cells (CD34+).
CD45 and CD34 are the way that scientists use to accurately classify cells based on their surface markers, since each type of cell has it's own unique set of surface markers. This means that we provide you with accurate and detailed information as to the number and quality of stem cells contained within the sample.
This information is documented for use by the transplant centre, and so would be accessible if the sample was ever needed by your child or family member. Not all stem cell banks offer this comprehensive service.
TNC = total nucleated cells (all white bloods cells both living & dead)
CD45+ = Viable (i.e living) white blood cells
CD34+ = Viable (i.e living) CD34+ cells (Stem cells are CD34+)
